Members of the Mexican Latin group RBD, also known as Rebelde, have come together once again after a 15-year hiatus. In a music landscape currently dominated by reggaetón, the pop band is experiencing sold-out shows across the country.

Their recent performance at Madison Square Garden sold out within 24 hours, showcasing the immense enthusiasm of their fans for their return.

"Pop is still alive," RBD singer Christopher von Uckermann declared during an interview with "CBS Mornings."

Uckermann shared that they had a feeling their ongoing tour would be successful, but they didn't anticipate it being this massive. "We believe that this comeback is simply destiny at the right moment," he added.

RBD's comeback coincides with a time when Latin music is making significant global waves, with Latin artists gracing the covers of Billboard in both English and Spanish.

The band consists of six members: von Uckermann, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Anahí, Christian Chávez, and Alfonso Herrera, who opted out of the tour. Their journey began with the immensely popular Mexican TV show in the 2000s, "Rebelde," capturing the hearts of the Latin community and paving the way for their status as a best-selling pop group.

RBD's impact extends beyond Spanish-speaking countries, resonating with fans from around the world. At its peak in 2008, the group's popularity was undeniable.

Now, their return is being hailed as one of the most significant reunions in Latin music history, sparking a wave of excitement reminiscent of a high school reunion, albeit one choreographed for millions of screaming fans in stadiums and arenas worldwide.

"RBD has become a part of your lives. It's not just about us or the brand. RBD's music is the soundtrack of your life. It's like you can recall important moments in your life through the music," noted RBD band member Maite Perroni.

Reflecting on their past, the group shared that their initial journey was driven by auditions and the pursuit of dreams. Today, their reunion is fueled by a desire to reconnect with their fans and reignite their passion for performing.

The women have become mothers and now bring their little ones on tour, adding a family dynamic to their journey.

However, revisiting their past also means revisiting challenging memories, including periods of exhaustion and exploitation during their rise to fame.

"It was honestly tough for us because we were burnt out, sad, and depressed. The main issue was that the creators were not there to support us during certain moments when we needed guidance, love, and more attention," said Chávez.

Chávez was publicly outed by the Spanish media in 2007, making him the first Latin pop artist to come out. He mentioned that the support he received from their fans and band members helped him through those challenging times.

As they return to the stage and prepare for the release of a new album, RBD is embracing their true selves and relishing the spotlight once more.

"We are working hard, and we have a lot of surprises. We're taking our time, and it feels so good," von Uckermann added.
