Las Vegas Raiders hire Sandra Douglass Morgan as first Black woman to hold a President's position in NFL history
Sandra Douglass Morgan joins Las Vegas Raiders as their team president. She makes history for becoming the first Black woman to hold such an important position in the NFL.

The Las Vegas Raiders have hired a new team president, Sandra Douglass Morgan. After being hired by the Las Vegas Raiders, she became the first Black woman to hold such an important role for an NFL team.
In a news conference at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, they announced that she is assuming the role of team president. Reporters asked her what it meant for her to make such league history. To which, she replied that she had been the ‘first’ in other positions that she had held in the past, like being the first city attorney or in the gaming control board.
Morgan also added that the importance and effect of holding such a position are not lost on her. Sports is a male-dominated industry, just like gaming was, and she wants women to continue to overcome all kinds of barriers created in the past.
Mark Davis, the owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, praised her for her integrity, passion and the experience she brings to the NFL team. He also added that when he met Sandra, he knew that she was a real force to be reckoned with, and the team was very lucky to have Sandra at the helm.
Morgan mentioned in a letter how thrilled she was to join the team as their president, and she wanted to meet each team member in person over the coming days.
But as per reports, Ventrelle said that he was fired for retaliating and informing the league of alleged complaints that claimed that Davis had created a hostile work environment along with some other potential misconduct in the team. However, Davis had dismissed all such claims. Though he added that he was aware of Ventrelle's allegations, he preferred not to comment on them.
And to these alleged complaints, the NFL said they would review these before coming to a conclusion.
In the past year, Jon Gruden, the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, resigned following reports of him using racist, homophobic and misogynistic language in emails as he worked as an ESPN analyst. To this, he apologised, saying that he did not mean to hurt anyone.
Sandra Douglass Morgan is a former Nevada Gaming Control Board chairperson, who was appointed in 2019. She was also the first Black woman to hold the role of a chairperson in the Gaming Control Board.
