The announcement of the McDaniels and Ziegler parting ways with the team was made by owner Mark Davis. They joined the team back in January 2022.
After this move of firing the head coach and GM, linebackers coach Antonio Pierce has taken up the role of interim head coach.
Since Davis started handling the team back in 2011 after the death of his father, seven coaches have been replaces as of now.
Pierce will be the eighth different coach for the Raiders since October 2011.
The team also said that current assistant general manager Champ Kelly will serve as interim GM.
The decision to fire the coach and GM came one day after the Raiders lost 26-14 on "Monday Night Football."
The team has faced the most embarrassing defeats in franchise history under the McDaniels-Ziegler duo.
The biggest collapse in the history of the franchise was blowing a 20-0 halftime lead against Arizona.
As of now, the Raiders have No. 31-ranked total offense in yards per game, No. 32 in rushing yards per game and rank No. 30 in points scored per game (15.8).
The raiders have been facing the issue of its players being under utilised. The all-Pros Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs are kept at receiver and running back, respectively, for most of the season.
