Lamine Yamal's record-breaking spree continues

Yamal is consistently breaking some international records ever since the Euro Cup 2024 started and now, as the finals ended on a Sunday, he shattered one last record, that too, of Brazil's icon, Pele. According to ESPN, he became the youngest player to ever appear in a major international championship like the FIFA World Cup or the European Championship.

Yamal finished his memorable Euro Cup journey with one goal and four assists, which yet again, is itself a record, according to Euro history. Meanwhile, after his successful goal in the semis against France in the 21st minute, followed by his assist in the Euro Cup finals, he also became first and youngest player to score or assist in the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, within a single Euro championship history.

Pele Foundation thanks Yamal

Pele's last record for appearing in a FIFA World Cup finals as the youngest player ever came in the year 1958, when he was part of the Brazilian team that thrashed Sweden 5-2. He scored twice in that particular match. Now, Yamal has become the youngest ever at the age of 17 years, 1 day, as he appeared for the Euro finals.

This is actually the second time Pele's record was broken, that too within a week, by a single person. Pele Foundation extended their congratulations on behalf of the legendary footballer to Yamal for achieving this feat, according to ESPN.
