Many schools across the US are struggling to find educators. The main challenge is in hiring, particularly for non-teaching positions. With the help of the federal pandemic money, schools are flushing to create new posts and later struggling to fill them in today's time of low unemployment in America, according to reports.

The reason for the drop in teachers is the pandemic. The Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that teachers in public schools in March dropped from 8.1 million to 7.3 million in May. Although employment has increased to 7.7 million, the positions are still unfulfilled. As per the survey, many teachers are quitting their job to keep their kids safe from violence, catch up on academic losses in the pandemic, deal with their mental health, etc.


The Upper Darby School is trying to fulfill seventy positions but cannot because of not getting enough applicants for the bus driver, substitute teacher, lunch aides, etc. The school has warned parents that they might take up remote teaching or cancel school if the positions remain unfulfilled.

In Birmingham, schools offer $10,000 signing bonuses for special ed teachers to fulfill the required posts. An HR officer of the district said that one of the main reasons these positions are unfulfilled is the low salary compared to the high cost of living. Schools in Moss Point have increased their wages to attract teachers.
