LA Olympics: Cricket to start on July 12, medal matches on July 20 and 29
Cricket is set to make its Olympic return at the LA 2028 Games, with matches scheduled from July 12 to July 29 at Fairgrounds Stadium in Pomona. Six men's and six women's teams will compete in the T20 format, marking the sport's second Olympic app...

This will mark cricket’s second appearance at the Olympics after a 128-year gap. The sport made its only Olympic showing in 1900 in Paris, when Great Britain defeated France in a two-day match to claim gold.
In 2028, six teams each in men’s and women’s competitions will compete in the T20 format, with a total of 180 athletes participating. Each team can name a 15-member squad, with 90 quotas each for men and women. Most days will feature double headers, with no matches scheduled on July 14 and 21.
Cricket's Olympic reentry comes on the back of its surging global popularity, recently evidenced by the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which saw strong fan turnout in Grand Prairie, Lauderhill, and New York - all in the USA.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) added cricket alongside baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes), and squash as new sports for LA 2028.
