'8 Mile' directed by Curtis Hanson is loosely based on the life of rapper Eminem, who plays the lead Jimmy B-Rabbit Smith in the film. Smith is an aspiring rapper with a messed-up life who must use his rhyming skills to succeed in a rap contest as this could be his last chance to turn his life around. The film also starred Brittany Murphy.

The 2015 film is a biographical musical crime drama by film-maker F. Gary Gray which shows the rise and fall of the gangsta rap group called 'N.W.A' and its members Easy-E, Ice Cube, Dr Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella. The film shows how a hip-hop group from Compton, California, ignites culture war with their brash lyrics and revolutionising music.

The musical romantic comedy drama starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in the lead roles is directed by Damien Chazelle. The acclaimed film walked away from the Oscars in 2016 with six wins. The film revolves around a pianist, Sebastian (Gosling) and an actress called Mia (Stone), who follow their passion and achieve success in their respective fields but find themselves torn between choosing their love or careers.

The 2018 biographical musical drama on Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the British rock band Queen, tells the story about the rockstar's journey from forming the band in 1970 up to their 1985 Live Aid performance at the original Wembley Stadium. The film stars Rami Malek as Mercury and Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joe Mazzello and more in supporting roles.
