The movie entered Netflix’s top 10 in 93 countries. “Because we had to pack so much into 85 minutes—it's a pretty big idea and a lot of pieces—there are so many unanswered questions, in a good way, and so many avenues that could be their own story,” co-director Chris Appelhans told Shine On Media in June 2025, Appelhans said.

"We’ve set up so much for potential backstory. There are a lot of questions left unanswered and areas that are not explored, and we had to do that because there’s only so much movie you can tell in 85 minutes," she further stated.
"This was Rumi’s story, and we have backstories for Zoey and Mira—ones that we actually put in the movie, but it just kind of rejected them. It just wasn’t the movie for those stories," Kang added.
What has the cast said about the sequel?
Cho, Hong, and Yoo are eagerly waiting to reprise their roles as the voices of HUNTR/X. "I've already told Maggie [Kang] and Chris [Appelhans] that there has to be a follow-up," Yoo told Mama's Geeky in June 2025.
"I would totally do it again. I'll be honestly a little bummed if we can't do a sequel." Cho added that she "would be heartbroken if there isn't a sequel."
