Kobe Bryant's widow Vanessa Bryant to get around $29 million from LA

LA County has agreed to pay Kobe Bryant's widow Vanessa Bryant around $29 million.

Basketball and NBA legend Kobe Bryant's widow Vanessa Bryant is set to receive $29 million (£24 million) from Los Angeles County. This came after police had circulated graphic images of Bryant's aircraft crash that took place two years ago.

Bryant and his daughter Gianna and other seven persons were killed in the fatal helicopter accident in the LA area.

Vanessa Bryant sued alleging that human remains were photographed and used as tradable 'souvenirs'.


LA County lawyers have termed the settlement "fair and reasonable". Lead trial counsel for Los Angeles County said that $28,850,000 settlement that includes$16 million that federal jury awarded in August 2022 as part of Bryant's privacy lawsuit against Los Angeles County.

Chris Chester lost his wife and daughter in the crash. Chester settled for nearly $20 million, as per the report.

In March 2021, Vanessa Bryant mentioned names of four deputies of sheriff and claimed that they circulated photos of parents, dead children and coaches. She alleged that photographs were only taken for "morbid gossip", as per the report.

Bryant was killed in Sikorsky S-76B aircraft that crashed at hillside outside the city of Calabasas.
