Kirsten Dunst excited about potential ‘Spider-Man 4’ reuniting with Tobey Maguire

In a recent interview, actress Kirsten Dunst shared her enthusiasm about the possibility of reprising her role as Mary Jane Watson in a potential Spider-Man 4, envisioning a storyline where Peter Parker and MJ navigate the challenges of parenthood. Dunst remarked, "That would be cool, right? I mean, I don't know if the fans are into it. I feel like that is an interesting movie, right? Me and Tobey doing that again but with kids." The actor was the first star to portray Peter Parker on the big screen for mainstream Marvel movies.

Her willingness to explore new facets of MJ's character aligns with the evolving landscape of superhero narratives, which increasingly delve into more grounded and personal stories. The prospect of a Spider-Man 4 has garnered attention following Tobey Maguire's return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).



The film was initially scheduled for a theatrical release in 2011, but Sony ultimately chose to reboot the franchise, paving the way for Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man series. Now, 14 years after Maguire’s Spider-Man was originally set to hit theaters, the story appears to have found the ideal direction to finally come to life.

Following the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans began campaigning for both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to receive new solo Spider-Man films. Maguire has expressed that he would be thrilled to reprise the role, stating he would eagerly take on the opportunity to play Spider-Man again, regardless of the type of role or project.

While Tom Holland’s ongoing role in the MCU could complicate Spider-Man 4, the upcoming MCU reboot and a potential transition to Miles Morales could clear the way, allowing Maguire’s Peter Parker to return without conflicting with Marvel’s plans.
