The series is set in 11th-century Britain, focusing on Harold, played by Norton, who faces a threat to his throne from Duke of Normandy, William, played by Coster-Waldau.

Moore will portray Morcar, the power-driven son of the Earl of Mercia. Lewis will play Margaret, a sheltered character. Forbes is cast as Thane Thomas, a loyal housecarl of Wessex. Asserson takes on the role of Judith, the cousin of William’s wife. Gunnarsson will play Hardrada, a Viking warrior, and Sigurdsson will be Fitzosbern, replacing Joseph Mawle.
