Killer Mike Grammys arrest: Rapper releases statement, cites “over-zealous” security as reason
Killer Mike's arrest at the Grammys has been downplayed by a source close to him, stating that the situation had been exaggerated. The source is confident that upon closer examination, Killer Mike will be exonerated from the alleged offense.

Following his triumphant win of three Grammys at the premiere ceremony held at the Peacock Theater, adjacent to Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena, Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Render, encountered a setback. Confusion arose regarding which entrance he and his team should use to access the arena, leading to an encounter with an overzealous security guard.
In a statement released late Monday night, Killer Mike expressed confidence that he would be vindicated of any wrongdoing: "As you can imagine, there was a lot going on, and there was some confusion around which door my team and I should enter. We experienced an over-zealous security guard, but my team and I have the utmost confidence that I will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing."
The altercation occurred outside the Crypto.com Arena after the rapper had collected his awards, resulting in his detention, handcuffing, and subsequent charge of misdemeanor battery.
Following his arrest, Killer Mike was questioned at the arena and then taken to LAPD Central Division for booking on the misdemeanor charge. Despite the ordeal, Killer Mike expressed gratitude to his fans for their supportive messages and reassured them of his well-being, stating, "I greatly appreciate the concern and support, but I am better than OK."
A source close to Killer Mike downplayed the severity of the altercation and arrest, emphasizing that the situation had been exaggerated. The source expressed confidence that upon closer examination, the facts of the case would exonerate Killer Mike from the alleged offense.
As of early Tuesday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department had not responded to inquiries from The Hollywood Reporter regarding the incident.
