According to ESPN, Chimaev also set a new benchmark with a plus-484 striking differential, surpassing Holloway’s previous record of plus-312 from his 2021 bout against Calvin Kattar.
Chimaev’s relentless pace and overwhelming pressure left du Plessis struggling to keep up, as the bout quickly turned into a showcase of sheer dominance.
Chimaev captured the middleweight title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over du Plessis at UFC 319 in Chicago on Saturday night. The 31-year-old Russian swept the scorecards with three identical 50-44 tallies, extending his perfect record to 15-0.
Du Plessis (23-3) of South Africa hit the canvas within the opening 10 seconds and spent the remainder of the bout fending off constant pressure from Chimaev.
