Kevin Spacey hits back at Guy Pearce’s allegations that he ‘targeted’ the actor: ‘Grow up’

Actor Kevin Spacey has fired back at Guy Pearce over claims that he targeted him during the filming of the 1997 movie, L.A. Confidential.

Dismissing the allegations, Spacey told Pearce to "grow up" and insisted that The King’s Speech star is not a victim.

His response follows Pearce’s recent remarks about their past interactions, including a 2018 comment where he described Spacey as “a handsy guy,” as reported by the BBC.

The Usual Suspects actor on Tuesday shared a one minute and 42 seconds video on social media platform X, wherein he directly addressed Pearce.

In the clip, Spacey said that if he had done something to upset Pearce, the actor could have reached out to him privately. Instead, Pearce chose to speak to the media, which Spacey claimed has now turned against him.

"You really want to know what my response is? Grow up," he added.

Spacey further claimed that a year after LA Confidential ended, Pearce visited Georgia just to spend time with him. Back then, Spacey was filming Clint Eastwood's Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

The veteran actor questioned Pearce whether he informed the media about this visit or "does that not fit into the victim narrative you have going?"

In the video, Spacey even apologised and said that he didn't get the message that Pearce "don't like spending time with me."

But he added that the actor was now on a "mission, some 28 years later, after I've been through hell and back."

Towards the end of the video, Spacey stated that he was still fine having a "conversation" with Pearce at any time and at any place, adding that he has got nothing to hide.

"But Guy - you need to grow up. You are not a victim," he told Pearce.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this week, Pearce claimed that Spacey "targeted me, no question" when they were working together on the 1997 film LA Confidential.

Pearce claimed that he was sort of scared of Spacey and even called him "quite an aggressive man."

During the interview, Pearce even alleged that he told his wife back then that he used to feel safe on the film's set whenever their co-actor Simon Baker remained present, since Spacey then used to give attention to Baker.
