Kelsea Ballerini debuts with EP of 'Blindsided', 'Penthouse' at Saturday Night Live; Watch video of SNL

Over the weekend, Kelsea Ballerini made her first-ever appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL). She performed two songs, "Blindsided" and "Penthouse," both of which were from her recent EP, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat. This episode of SNL featured Travis Kelce, an NFL star who hosted the show alongside Ballerini.

During her performance of "Blindsided," Ballerini wore a black jumpsuit with a zebra-like pattern and stood in front of a flashing screen that displayed a spooky silhouette, which she touched at one point. She also added a new ending to the song that alluded to her recent divorce and the resulting media attention, singing, "Now you're singin' it loud on the radio like you're the only heart that breaks / You would've searched the whole world over? Yeah, sure, OK."



For "Penthouse," Ballerini wore a white dress as she went to deliver the lyrics, "We played the part five nights, but we were never there on the weekends, baby." Her performance was emotive and powerful.

After nearly five years of marriage, Kelsea Ballerini filed for divorce from Morgan Evans in August, and the split was finalized in November of the same year. Since then, the "Peter Pan" singer has been linked to Chase Stokes, a star of the TV show Outer Banks.

Shortly after releasing her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP, which came with a short film of the same name, Ballerini appeared on an episode of Call Her Daddy and opened up about her marriage's breakdown, revealing details such as her breaking point, sleeping on the couch, and allegedly being forced to give up half of their home.

The day before the full episode was released, Evans seemed to reference it on social media, expressing sadness at seeing someone he "spent so much of life with" say "things that aren't reality."
