Katie Thurston's cancer treatment paused after spots found on liver

TV personality Katie Thurston, who announced her diagnosis with stage 3 breast cancer earlier this year, said that doctors have paused her treatment after finding spots on her liver.

The 34-year-old star had in February shocked several of her fans by sharing that she got diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The Bachelor Nation star this week gave an update on Instagram, E! News reported.

What did Katie Thurston say?

Thurston said that her liver biopsy was scheduled to take place on Friday and this would have been her treatment day as well. However, it has now been put on hold and she has been asked to wait.


The reason her daughter gave was the spots detected on her liver, which the doctor believes are cancerous, thus putting her at a stage 4 diagnosis.

“She seemed to be leaning more on the cancer in the liver vs. optimism. This would put me at stage 4. I’d love to hear from my sisters who are stage 4 in terms of quality of life, motherhood, etc," E! News quoted her as saying.

Katie Thurston documents her journey

Thurston has been documenting her cancer treatment on Instagram, keeping her fans updated about her diagnosis.

Recently, she even showcased her I-SPY clinical trial, where the doctor gave her the Zoladex injection for reducing the size of tumors.

“Do I cry too much?” she said while talking about the needle that was being used for the procedure. She even stated that she will stay as long as "they’ll allow it.”

The clinical trial also includes several rounds of chemotherapy. Apart from this, Thurston is also going out for IVF to get her eggs freezed to have the possibility of conceiving a child, once her cancer treatment is done.

Katie Thurston marries Jeff Arcuri

Thurston's update on cancer diagnosis comes days after she announced her marriage to Jeff Arcuri.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Thurston shared several photographs on the social media platform, including one in which the newlyweds can be seen holding hands as they take a walk on a street while looking back at the camera.

"We said ‘I do’ on March twenty two," she captioned the post on March 23.

According to Us Weekly, the intimate ceremony was only attended by a few guests, including their parents as well as adopted dog Charlie. The couple looks forward to holding a major ceremony next spring, once Thurston gets done with her cancer treatment.

On their marriage, Thurston told the magazine that it was a "kind gesture" from Arcuri to say "truly, in sickness and in health".
