Kate Garraway’s husband hospitalized again: Updates actress

Kate Garraway recently announced that her husband Derek Draper has returned to the hospital.

The shocking news was disclosed by the Good Morning Britain presenter on Thursday's episode of Loose Women.

Giving an update on Derek's health and thanking his caretakers, she claimed that he "would have died" if it hadn't been for them.


Darcey and Billy, the couple's two teenage children, have each been suffering with their "own traumas" as a result of their father's illness.

Kate discussed her children's reactions to her recent appearance on This Morning.

"He is most alive when they're around," she went on to say. "They are incredible. In some ways, I haven't talked much about them, because they've had their own traumas, and it's not my story to tell."

Long-term issues since getting COVID-19

As Derek fights the Long Covid, the former Labour lobbyist was first hospitalized in March 2020 with coronavirus after experiencing numbness in his hand, headaches, and shortness of breath.

Derek has had long-term issues since getting COVID-19, despite being certified COVID-19-free after 10 weeks in a medically induced coma.

He was released on trial in April 2021, but he has been readmitted to the wards multiple times due to a variety of health conditions, including kidney failure, brain inflammation, and liver damage.

Kate spoke with the panel on Carers Rights Day and gave an update on Derek.

She said: "He's returned to something he started last year that he needed, and the second part of which will hopefully mean he has more movement, physical fractures."

“So it's a good hospital thing. So he's actually not at home right now. So when the visiting game comes around, hopefully not for too long."

Kate recently published The Strength of Love: Embracing an Uncertain Future with Resilience and Optimism, in which she relates Derek's story and how it has affected her and her family's lives.

Kate has also recently said that she is continually concerned about losing Derek, who now requires 24-hour care on the lower floor of the couple's London home.

The news has really saddened the fans of the presenter as they hope for a speedy recovery of Derek.
