'Karate Kid' franchise to continue with next film under production. Know about its release date, star cast and more

The 'Karate Kid' franchise will not come to an end next year with the release of the last five episodes of 'Cobra Kai' Season 6. According to 'Collider', director Jonathan Entwistle and writer Rob Lieber are working on a film that is most likely to hit theaters next year. This film will take forward the saga of the karate kids, with certain twists and turns added to the original story to make the movie more attractive. 'Variety' has reported that Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio will unite for a brand new film set in the background of martial arts.

Casting search

Earlier in November 2023, Chan and Macchio launched a global casting search for a brand new karate kid to lead the movie. They made the announcement in a video posted to YouTube, and invited young actors to submit audition tapes to 'KarateKidCasting.com'.

'Karate Kid' trilogy

Plot details have been kept under wraps, but Macchio will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso, whom he played in the original 'Karate Kid' film trilogy starting in 1984. Similarly, Chan will return to the role of kung fu master based Mr. Han. US-born Chinese star Ben Wang will lead the cast. The star ensemble of the new karate kid movie will also include Sadie Stanley, Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, and Wyatt Oleff.

The new Karate Kid franchise movie is most likely to be released on May 30, 2025. Earlier, it was scheduled to premiere on December 13, 2024. But the release has been delayed.
