Netflix has confirmed the cancellation of "Kaos," a Greek mythology-based comedy series after just one season. The show, which featured a modern take on ancient gods, debuted in late August 2023.

Background

"Kaos" was a Greek mythology series that premiered on Netflix on August 29, 2023. Jeff Goldblum played Zeus, portrayed in a whimsical and insecure way. The story centered around Zeus imprisoning Prometheus after Prometheus challenged his authority over humanity. Prometheus, with the help of three humans—Eurydice, Ariadne, and Caeneus—tried to overthrow Zeus. The series combined ancient mythology with a modern setting.

Cast

The cast included many well-known actors. Janet McTeer played Hera, Aurora Perrineau was Eurydice and Cliff Curtis played Poseidon. Other cast members included David Thewlis as Hades, Rakie Ayola as Persephone and Killian Scott as Orpheus. The role of Prometheus was played by Stephen Dillane, with supporting performances from Billie Piper, Suzy Eddie Izzard and Cathy Tyson.

Creator's Vision

Charlie Covell, the creator of "Kaos," had originally envisioned three seasons for the show. She expressed her hope for more seasons in an interview with Cosmopolitan. Covell stated that she wanted the first season to feel complete but left room for future stories.

Cancellation Announcement

Despite Covell’s hope for more seasons, Netflix canceled the show after one season. Aurora Perrineau, who played Eurydice, appeared to confirm the cancellation in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Season 2 Plans

"Kaos" was first greenlit in 2018, and the production company, Sister, had started preparations for a second season.
