Kanye West has announced the purchase of the right-wing social media network Parler for a price yet unknown to the public. The rapper, who officially changed his name to Ye last year, is anticipated to complete the transaction in the fourth quarter of this year. In a statement, he stated that in a world where conservative views are deemed controversial, “we must make sure we have the right” to openly express ourselves.

According to George Farmer, the chief executive of Parler’s parent company, Parlement, this purchase will revolutionise the world and how people think about free expression. He further noted that Ye is making a game-changing move into the free speech media sphere, and he will never have to worry about getting banned from social media again.




George Farmer, who is married to right-wing activist Candace Owens and the son of former Conservative party treasurer and peer Michael Farmer, added that Ye demonstrates that he is ahead of the traditional media narrative, Parlement will be honoured to assist him in achieving his objectives.

John Matze and Rebekah Mercer, the daughter of billionaire hedge fund investor and Breitbart founder Robert Mercer, created the site, Parler, in 2018.

However, their role in the 6 January attack on the US Capitol resulted in John Matze's ouster and George Farmer's replacement in May 2021. Following the attack on the US Capitol, Parler was deleted from the Apple and Google app stores, and on January 10, Amazon Web Services suspended its account.
