Kansas beat North Carolina to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Title
After trailing by as many as 16 points, the Jayhawks made a marvellous comeback to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Title against North Carolina by 72-69.

The Jayhawks saw a double-digit score from five players in an unusually balanced offensive attack game that no one expected on Monday night and pulled off the biggest comeback breaking the previous record of the NCAA title game, which Loyola Chicago had set in 1963 of 15 points.
Coach Bill Self after the game said that "I had told the team that we will be down by either nine with two minutes left in half or by 15 at the half, as we were in the same situation back in 2008."
David McCormack, a senior who had made the game-winning strategy, said that "Everyone deserves a chance to name a game after them. It was teamwork, and everyone did their part very well to ensure this win."
Until the final minute, the Jayhawks never let North Carolina get ahead by more than one point. Along with that, McCormack made great efforts to put the game away by putting back his rebound with under 20 seconds to go.
Finally, as the clock was running down, it created pressure on North Carolina in which they missed a trio of 3 points attempts, eventually making them lose the spot of the first No. 8 seed to win a title since 1985.
This win brings the second title for Coach Bill Self who has established himself as one of the top coaches in the field in every metric except the number of banners he added to the rafters of Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.
In the last 17 years, he has won all the Big 12 regular season titles except just two, as the Jayhawks had lost to a historically dominant Kentucky team in the 2012 final and in 2018, they had reached the semifinals but had lost against Villanova who eventually ended up as champions in 2018.
