Harris stated without hesitation that she accepted Christine Blasey Ford's claims that Brett Kavanaugh had pushed her during a high school dance, and she circulated rumors that the judge had previously raped a woman in the backseat of a vehicle.

On Tuesday, numerous remarks made by the Democratic senator from California about Ford and other female victims were brought up by online critics. She chose to wear black in support of all victims of sexual assault or abuse. They cannot be ignored or silenced. In September 2018, a week before Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing, Harris wrote on Twitter, now known as X, with the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors.
