Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, stated his firm opinion that Vice President Kamala Harris will become the next U.S. president if she wins the state in the forthcoming general election. Talking on Harris's possible route to the White House should she win the state, he expressed his opinions in an interview.

As per the reports of Yahoo news, Governor Cooper emphasized Harris' dedication to North Carolina by mentioning her 17 trips to the state while serving as vice president. He claims that this proves Harris understands North Carolina as a crucial battlefield and that her repeated trips there show her interest in winning over the state's electorate. Given that Biden and Harris lost the 2020 election by a razor-thin margin of 1.3 percent, Cooper is optimistic that Harris can win over voters in North Carolina.

The importance of North Carolina in the election

According to Cooper, North Carolina is very important in the 2024 race, particularly for Harris. He pointed out that, absent North Carolina, Donald Trump—who is seeking the Republican nomination once more—has very few options for winning. The state's fifteen electoral votes went to Trump in 2020, but Cooper thinks Harris has a good shot this time around, particularly if people grasp her platform.

Harris' campaign focus and potential voter appeal

With her campaign, Harris is concentrating on economic changes that will assist the middle class and cut costs for families. As North Carolinians become more aware of her objectives, Cooper thinks this will strike a chord with them. Additionally, he brought up Harris's support of women's reproductive rights, which may increase the state's attraction to her.

From a "lean Republican" to a "toss-up" state, according to recent Cook Political Report estimates, North Carolina might be a very tight campaign. Cooper is still confident that Harris's initiatives and programs will persuade voters to support her, even if Harris is still behind Trump by a narrow margin in poll averages.
