Kamala Harris has expressed her support for former President Joe Biden following his diagnosis with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has reportedly spread to the bone. In a statement issued on May 18, Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff extended well-wishes and underscored their continued admiration for Biden’s resilience.

“Doug and I are saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis,” the former vice president said. “We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time. Biden’s diagnosis confirmed by spokesperson as Cancer advances
According to a spokesperson for Biden, the former president has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to the bone. “The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” the statement read.

The diagnosis comes months after Biden, who served as president from 2021 to 2025, withdrew from the 2024 presidential race following a debate performance that raised public and political concern about his health and cognitive sharpness. Harris, who had originally challenged Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary, became his running mate and served as vice president during his administration. She went on to secure the Democratic nomination in 2024 after Biden’s exit.

Harris remains a central Democratic figure amid Biden’s health news
Biden’s illness adds another layer to an already significant political year, with former President Donald Trump currently serving his second term in office following his 2024 election victory. As Democratic Party leaders respond to the news, Harris’s message stands out as one of both personal concern and public affirmation.

While she is no longer in the executive branch, Harris remains a key figure in Democratic leadership and national politics. Her response to Biden’s diagnosis was one of the earliest and most personal from a top party official, reflecting their shared years in the White House and her continued political presence.
