As the 2024 presidential election progresses, Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign is facing considerable financial difficulties.

Kamala Harris’ campaign debt: From Oprah Winfrey to Beyonce, were star ‘donors’ paid?
As the 2024 presidential election continues to unfold, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign finds itself grappling with significant financial challenges.

According to a report from Christopher Cadelago, California bureau chief for Politico, Harris' campaign is ending the race with a debt of at least $20 million.

The claim was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Cadelago, who stated that the campaign had raised over $1 billion and had a reported $118 million in the bank as recently as October 16, as mentioned in a report by Newsweek.

Details of the Campaign's Financial Standing

The revelation about Harris' campaign debt came at a time when the election results indicated a decisive win for former President Donald Trump.

Cadelago's claim was echoed by others, including Breitbart's Matthew Boyle, who cited an anonymous source within Harris' campaign.

Boyle noted that the deputy campaign manager, Rob Flaherty, was actively seeking to recoup the funds by offering the campaign’s email list to other political groups and campaigns.

However, these claims about the campaign's debt have not been independently confirmed by any other outlets.

Campaign Spending and Fundraising Challenges

Data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) reveals that the Harris campaign raised over $1 billion by mid-October, with $890 million spent during the same period.

The funds were raised during a period when the campaign was still aligned with Joe Biden’s bid for re-election, prior to his withdrawal from the race in July.

As of mid-October, the campaign’s remaining funds amounted to $118 million, significantly higher than the $36.2 million held by Trump’s campaign at the time.

However, despite these substantial figures, the Harris campaign faced a significant imbalance between fundraising and spending. The Democratic campaign machine, which included both Harris' and Biden’s efforts, spent over $1.1 billion on advertising and related costs.

For example, The New York Times reported that Harris’ campaign spent large sums flying banners over NFL games to target male voters in swing states.

Similarly, The Guardian highlighted a $450,000 per day expenditure on ads displayed on the Las Vegas Sphere, aiming to influence Nevada voters. Despite these costly advertising efforts, the desired impact on voters appeared minimal.

As the campaign battles mounting debt, staff members and vendors are reportedly concerned they may not be paid for their services.

Concerts Drain Campaign Funds

Sources close to the campaign revealed to The Post that the funds spent on these concerts have drained the campaign’s coffers. The campaign’s financial woes were hinted at earlier when they canceled a planned performance by '90s alt-rock icon Alanis Morissette, reportedly in a bid to save money.

The concerts, which featured performances by renowned artists such as Bon Jovi in Detroit, Christina Aguilera in Las Vegas, Katy Perry in Pittsburgh, and Lady Gaga in Philadelphia, were part of a larger effort to energize voters ahead of the election. The eighth concert, held just three days before the election on November 2, featured rapper 2Chainz in Atlanta.

Concerts Led by Obama Veterans

According to two sources of The Post, the idea for these concerts originated with Stephanie Cutter, a veteran of former President Barack Obama's campaigns, and received backing from another Obama alum, David Plouffe.
