Juneteenth 2024: Will supermarkets and restaurants be open today? Here is the full list of what is open and the timings

Supermarkets and restaurants will remain open on Juneteenth. The business hours may be affected due to the federal holiday and it is recommended to contact them before visiting the stores.

Juneteenth 2024 is here and the US is celebrating what is considered to be its second Independence Day. This marks the end of slavery in the US. After President Joe Biden signed the legislation adding June 19 to the list of federal holidays in 2021, millions of Americans get a paid holiday on this historic day. The American civil war ended on this day after General Gordon Granger marched into Texas with his troops in 1865 and released over 250,000 individuals working as ‘slaves’ in the various agricultural fields of the southern states. Will the retail stores, food restaurants and other eateries be open?

What is open?

USA Today reported that major restaurants including McDonalds, KFC, Wendy’s, Dunkin’ and others will be open. Retail chains including Walmart, Costco and Target will also be open but its business hours may be affected with restricted timings due to the holiday. It has been advised to check with the local stores before visiting.

General Information:

Walmart will remain open from 6am to 11pm, Costco warehouses will also remain open. Pharmacies including Walgreens will remain open during regular business hours and many Rite Aid outlets will also remain open (better to call them before planning your visit).

TK Maxx, Marshall’s, Target, Macy’s, Staples, PetCo, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s, REI, Burlington, HomeGoods, Gap, H&M, Ikea, Old Navy, Nordstrom, Office Depot and OfficeMax, Tractor Supply Company, Bass Pro Shop/Cabela’s, PetSmart and Big Lots.

Restaurants that are open:

Starbucks, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Chickfil-A, Taco Bell, IHOP, Dunkin’, KFC, Olive Garden (11am to 10pm), Cracker Barrel, Hooters, Marco’s Pizza, Whataburger, Golden Corral, Golden Corral, Ruth’s Chris (4pm-10pm), Red Lobster, Longhorn Steakhouse (11am-10pm) and Carrabba’s Italian Grill.

Grocery stores that are open:

Costco, Walmart (6am-11pm), Baker’s, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Fred Mayer, City Market, Foods Co, King Soopers, Metro Market, Smith’s Food and Drug, QFC, Kroger, Mariano’s, Pick’ n Save, Pay Less super markets, Ralphs, Ruler, Meijer (6am to Midnight), Publix, Trader Joe’s, Harris Teeter, Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Shaw’s, Vons and Tom Thumb, Giant Eagle, Wegman’s, Aldi, Whole Foods, Food Lion and Winn-Dexie.
