July 4: Remembering Highland Park and Chicago mass shooting victims, check their names

July 4 marks the American Independence Day. Remembering some of the victims of the Fourth of July parade 2022 mass shootings in the US on this day.

Residents of Highland Park and Chicago are coming together today to mark the one-year anniversary of the Fourth of July parade mass shooting. On July 4, 2022, a mass shooting occurred at 10:14 am during a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois. The shooting left seven people dead and 48 injured by bullets or shrapnel.

To remember the victims, instead of the usual Independence Day parade, in these cities there will be a community walk, preceded by a remembrance ceremony at Highland Park City Hall, and other commemoration events.

The shooting at Highland Park left seven families bereaved. The names of the victims are:

They will be remembered on July 4, 2023 at the event.

Over the past year, there have been more victims of mass shootings in the US. On the same day, July 4, 2022, there was a mass shooting on the 6500 block of South Martin Luther King Jr Drive.

According to the non-profit Gun Violence Archive, there have been 47 mass shootings in the Chicago area between July 4, 2022 and June 30, 2023 alone. As a result, 46 people were dead and 272 people were wounded.

Those injured in the mass shootings have also been scarred for life, and their family members and those of the dead victims live on with the grief.
