Dallas ICE facility suspect Joshua Jahn’s mother Sharon Jahn has broken her silence following the tragic shooting, expressing deep anguish and offering an emotional apology. Speaking for the first time since the incident, Sharon somehow held herself and apologised while acknowledging the pain caused by her son’s actions.

"I’m sorry, I can’t talk to you right now," Sharon told The Independent. "I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. But I just can’t talk to you now."

Authorities said a gunman armed with a rifle opened fire 'indiscriminately' around 6:20 AM from a nearby rooftop at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas on Wednesday, killing one detainee and injuring two others inside a transport van. Police reported that Jahn’s body was found on the roof of a nearby immigration attorney’s office, where he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

FBI Director Kash Patel shared a photo on X showing what he identified as the suspect’s unused ammunition, with one round marked with the words 'ANTI-ICE' along its side.

"While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an ideological motive behind this attack," Patel wrote.

Jahn’s parents, both 65, are retired - his father, Andrew, formerly worked as a mechanical engineer, while his mother, Sharon, served as an administrator at a massage school in Plano. He is survived by two siblings, a 30-year-old brother, Noah, and a 26-year-old sister, Kioko.

According to The Independent, brother Noah Jahn was deeply distressed by the shooting and said he was not ready to discuss the situation in detail.

"I’m still trying to.." Noah said. "I'm back and forth with the police, I'm just…" He then hung up.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson stressed that the situation was still developing as police continued their investigation, reported The Independent.

"Let’s be patient, let’s remain calm, and let’s let our law enforcement partners… do their job," Johnson said at a press conference. "This is an active investigation. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, and I want to encourage all of you to exercise a little bit of restraint and allow them to do their job."

According to Reuters, officials confirmed that no law enforcement officers were injured in the shooting, which occurred at an ICE field office rather than a detention center. The facility is used for short-term processing of recently arrested detainees.

The Trump administration’s intensified reliance on ICE in its immigration crackdown has drawn sharp criticism from Democrats and liberal activists. ICE detention sites have increasingly become flashpoints, with heavily armed agents using pepper ball guns, tear gas, and other chemical agents during confrontations with protesters.
