Jonquel Jones sparks Liberty to 85-76 win against Wings in WNBA

Jonquel Jones recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds as the New York Liberty used a well-rounded team effort to defeat the Dallas Wings 85-76 on Tuesday night at Barclays Center. It marked the Liberty's second win in five games since Breanna Stewart’s injury, and improved their record to 8-0 when Jones posts a double-double this season.

Despite a quiet night from star guard Sabrina Ionescu - who managed just nine points on 2-of-9 shooting - the Liberty leaned on their depth. Leonie Fiebich scored 14 points and hit a dagger 3-pointer late to give New York a 15-point cushion.



Emma Meesseman chipped in 13 in her home debut, while Stephanie Talbot and Natasha Cloud added 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Liberty bench totaled 22 points, and the team shot an efficient 50% from beyond the arc (12-of-24).


New York opened strong, ending the first quarter with a 24-15 lead after Rebekah Gardner buried a triple off a Dallas turnover. They stretched it to double digits early in the second, though the Wings clawed back to make it 37-34 at halftime.

Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 21 points - her fourth straight 20-point game - despite briefly exiting in the fourth quarter with a back issue. Arike Ogunbowale added 14 and Maddy Siegrist scored 13 off the bench.


The Wings held a 45-35 rebounding advantage but were undone by poor shooting, managing just 37.2% from the field and 6-of-27 (22.2%) from deep.

New York regained control in the second half, using timely shooting to pull away in the fourth. Talbot's 3-pointer and Fiebich’s clutch triple with just over three minutes remaining sealed the win, avenging last week's loss to the Wings.
