Jonathan Majors wants to be a supervillain? Here’s what the actor has to say about it

Jonathan Majors recently expressed that he wanted to be a "supervillain" instead of a "villain."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jonathan Majors, who portrays Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, says he is eager to watch how his character unfolds as a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He also revealed that he preferred to portray a supervillain in the forthcoming film rather than a typical bad guy. The actor discussed his role and his enthusiasm for playing such a strong villain by bringing up the Shakespearean tragedy Othello.
He said, "The first thing that was pitched to me was, he's a villain, and I went, 'Hmm.'"
"And they were like, he's a supervillain, and I went, 'Hmm, I'm into that.' But why was I into that? Because [of] classical texts. I mean, I do want to play Othello, but, in Othello, you've always got to be careful about Iago, because Iago, that guy, that's the most complex character. There's very little he won't do," he added.

Majors has been promoting his role as Kang the Conqueror since before he joined the MCU. Prior to that, he played Kang's multiverse-based alter ego, He Who Remains, in the Loki TV series on Disney+.
With appearances in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026, Majors' "Kang the Conqueror" is expected to take the lead role as the main villain in the Multiverse storyline.
Peyton Reed, the director of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, even said Kang might defeat The Avengers more effectively than Thanos.
Despite his attempts to downplay the similarities, Majors acknowledged that "The Mad Titan" was one of the inspirations for his Kang the Conqueror.
