Iran has pretty recently assured the Joe Biden administration that it would not attempt to assassinate US President- elect Donald Trump following a warning from the US that any such action would be considered as an act of war. According to The Wall Street Journal, this written assurance which got delivered on October 14 was actually a part of a secret exchange intended to de-escalate tensions ahead of the US Presidential Elections.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Iranian message came in response to concerns regarding ongoing threats against Donald Trump specifically in light of allegations that Iranian agents had plotted to kill him.

The US Justice Department had previously charged individuals linked to Iran with conspiracy to assassinate Donald Trump, which eventually heightened security measures for him during his Presidential campaign.
