John Wick: Chapter 4 may have a grand opening. See release date

Lionsgate's ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, is set to release soon with an impressive projected opening of $60 million -$70 million. If this prediction holds true, it would be the highest domestic opening for the R-rated Keanu Reeves franchise. This would mark another successful launch for Lionsgate, following a string of tentpole releases programmed for this spring.

Moreover, the projected opening for Chapter 4 would be Lionsgate's biggest debut since the pandemic began. The studio recently had notable success with the faith-based film Jesus Revolution, which opened to $15.8 million last weekend and has since surpassed $20 million in box office sales.

John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum had a successful opening of $56.8 million and went on to earn $171 million domestically and $328.3 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise, which has earned over $585.5 million to date.


Similarly to the previous film, John Wick: Chapter 4 is generating interest among older male and female audiences. In the previous installment, released in May 2019, 45% of the audience was men over the age of 25, 29% were women over the age of 25, and 18% were men under the age of 25. Additionally, the film is performing well among Black moviegoers.



Tickets for Chapter 4 were made available for purchase on Wednesday. The movie marks the return of the franchise's director, Chad Stahelski. The trailer for Chapter 4, featuring Keanu Reeves, premiered at San Diego Comic-Con during a Collider panel in Hall H.

Lionsgate recognizes the significant value of the John Wick brand, as evidenced by their current projects. A spin-off movie, Ballerina, featuring Ana de Armas is already in the making.

On March 24, 2023, ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ movie will be showcased in theatres. Additionally, a prequel series titled ‘The Continental’ will be debuting on Peacock later this year.
