John Mayer cancels live performance show after his father's ailing condition

Having a show cancelled is a big loss for the performers and the fans, who pay to come to enjoy the moment. But when there is a medical emergency of someone dear to you, and you have to be there come what may, you have no alternative but to cancel the show. John Mayer did exactly that for his father Richard Mayer. John also has high regard for his father. He says that his Dad is that sort of person, who doesn’t write a cheque and says en-cash it after a week. In that case, he would never write that cheque at all. His father was a principal of a school so Richard Mayer had his own share of principles that he would want his three sons including John to imbibe. However, his father in a candid interview said that his son John stuck to his music, which he as the father, was not sure of, but eventually, his son succeeded and won, and he is the father, who had lost. John’s father felt that music was a part of one’s life but that alone would not sustain a household. For John, music was the only thing that he could do and nothing else.

John is grateful that his father is getting much-needed care in hospital. However, he is sorry that he would not be able to be present for the show in Saratoga Springs as he had to be beside his father in NYC.

John’s band, Dead & Company, issued a message on their Twitter handle, that they would not be performing due to personal reasons and tickets would be refunded at the point of purchase. However, the other tours of the band are as per schedule.
