WWE legend John Cena has finally addressed Brock Lesnar’s shocking return at SummerSlam, stating that the decision was entirely in the hands of the company. "I’ve been saying the same thing for 25 years: They deal ’em, I play ’em," Cena candidly said while replying to Adam Glyn's question on a potential fight with Lesnar and what was he thinking when Brock suddenly emerged on Sunday night.

"I’m just really excited. We’ve got like 12 of these things left. I think SummerSlam was an indication from the audience where everybody kind of knows we’re closing our book. And just because I close my book in December, that doesn’t mean the WWE closes its books. They’ve got to continue their programming going forward. So, they’re just trying to make the most exciting shows for the fans and for the dozen of them I got left – they deal ‘em, I play ‘em."

Just two days before defending the WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes on Night 2 of SummerSlam, Cena shocked fans on SmackDown by delivering a heartfelt promo that marked the end of his five-month heel run and a return to his fan-favorite persona.

The sudden face turn earned Cena thunderous cheers during his brutal street fight with Rhodes, which concluded with Cody reclaiming the WWE Championship he had lost to Cena at WrestleMania 41.

As Cena stood in the ring, soaking in the crowd’s ovation, Lesnar made a stunning return to WWE - his first appearance since SummerSlam 2023. 'The Beast Incarnate' ambushed Cena, delivering a crushing F-5, seemingly setting the stage for one final clash between the two legends.

Lesnar’s return stirred controversy among fans, as he was repeatedly mentioned in a lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant against WWE and former chairman Vince McMahon in January 2024. The lawsuit, which includes serious allegations of misconduct, has cast a shadow over Lesnar’s involvement with the company.
