US President Joe Biden on Sunday is heading to the Texas city of El Paso amid the surge of the migrant crisis along the Mexico border and take a look at the situation. Biden’s visit to El Paso follows the announcement that Cubans, Nicaraguans, Haitians and Venezuelans would be sent back to Mexico upon illegal entry to the US.

It is also Biden’s first trip to the southern border since he acquired the presidency in 2021. It also comes ahead of his two-day meetings in Mexico City with North American leaders when he will be exchanging views on immigration along with other related crises.

El Paso is one of the largest American cities which lies on the US-Mexico border and witnesses the arrival of thousands of migrants on a daily basis. Just last month, El Paso mayor Oscar Leeser declared a state of emergency as the administration tried to respond to the intensifying migrant crisis. Due increase in immigrants arriving on the US border, several dozen of people had to sleep on the streets.
