Joe Alwyn has finally spilt the beans behind the incidental music that the London-born actor and his partner Taylor Swift managed to create during the lockdown.

It's now almost five years since the famously private couple has been dating. Joe Alwyn, 31, is with singer Taylor Swift, 32, since 2017 and will star in Sally Rooney's first novel Conversations with Friends, which the BBC and airs adapt from May 15 on BBC Three iPlayer.

Alwyn had assumed the alias William Bowery when he had last collaborated with his girlfriend Swift in her eighth studio Folklore and had even written a few songs for her ninth album, Evermore.

While speaking to GQ, he admitted that he had no idea that the music both wrote would turn out so well as everything they had created was totally from an accidental attempt at 3 in the morning. According to him, both of them were having some casual singing and piano sessions when a tune stuck out, and both decided they wanted to find out where the song took them.

The actor has gained worldwide fame after featuring in the 2016 war movie Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, with Ang Lee as director and Kristen Stewart as co-actor. Talking about the process of writing music with Swift, he said it was spontaneous, effortless, and a matter of pride for him. Both of them agree that the tremendously positive reception of their accidental lockdown music came as a surprise to both of them.

Alwyn stars in "Conversations With Friends," a story about two students, Frances and Bobbi, and their strange and their special relationship with married couple Melissa (Jemima Kirke) and Nick (Alwyn). It's a 12-episode series from the same house that gave us Normal People, which is also based on previous work of the same author.
