Disney's ABC pulls 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' off air after remarks about Charlie Kirk's assassination.
Hours after ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a recent video of him shared by Charlie Kirk, exactly a month before his assassination, went viral. In the video, which was a clip from the "Sarah Silverman Podcast," Kirk highlighted the part where the late-night host admitted that "repulsive" liberal voices are scaring people away from the Democratic Party.

Kimmel, who often criticizes Trump and campaigned for Democrats in the 2024 election, defended his party while agreeing that some progressive figures have turned people away. "Yes. But it's not—it's not the party. It's not the majority. It's the loud voices that scare people from saying what they believe and make you think twice about a joke or whatever," he had said during the podcast.

"You know, a lot of their points are valid, but a lot of them are also just repulsive, in that they repel people," Kimmel added. "They go like, 'Oh, you're no fun. I don't want to be around you.' And I think that if you had to boil it down to one thing, that's kind of what it is,” he continued.

ABC suspends Jimmy Kimmel Live!

ABC announced on Wednesday evening (September 17, 2025) that it was pulling Kimmel's show "indefinitely." The move came after conservatives accused the longtime host of inaccurately describing the politics of the man who is accused of fatally shooting the right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

The decision to suspend "Jimmy Kimmel Live" was made by Bob Iger, Disney's CEO, and Dana Walden, the company's television chief, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a private process, according to NYT News Service.
