Jimmy Kimmel faces flak for stealing Quinta Brunson's glorious moment. See what happened

Quinta Brunson accepted her first Emmy prize alongside a renowned stage crasher. Brunson got the award for best writing in a comedy series for her work on ABC's "Abbott Elementary," which she developed and starred in. This year, her programme was a smashing TV success, receiving seven nominations in its debut season and earning Sheryl Lee Ralph her first Emmy. Brunson won one of the three trophies she was nominated for. She was the first African-American woman to be nominated for three Emmys in the comedy category in the same year.

To present the award, Will Arnett pulled Jimmy Kimmel onto the stage by his foot. Kimmel was playing dead in protest of losing the Variety Talk Series prize for the 13th time. Brunson had to walk over Kimmel to get to the microphone as she reached the stage to accept her award. Kimmel remained still on the ground during her speech. Brunson tried to wake up Jimmy saying he won. But he didn't say anything.





He gave her a thumbs-up when she requested him to hold her phone. Brunson praised her business partner, mentor, Larry Wilmore, the Abbott Elementary School, and her husband. Brunson and Kimmel were both pulled from the stage. Fans of the show, which returns for a second season on September 21, called Kimmel's stunt a poor joke that stole Brunson's moment.




Kimmel was criticised for diverting focus away from Black artistes at an awards event. Kimmel presented at the 89th Annual Academy Awards Show in 2017 when "La La Land" was wrongly given the Best Picture Award that "Moonlight" had won. He later cracked a joke to worsen the situation asking them the 'La La Land' team to keep the award anyway. This cost him a lot of trolls online.
