Jimenez stars as Mexico edge Honduras to set up Gold Cup final with US
Mexico secured their spot in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final by defeating Honduras 1-0, thanks to Raul Jiménez's decisive goal in the 50th minute, assisted by a brilliant pass from young Gilberto Mora. Edson Álvarez's potential second goal was disallo...

Despite dominating possession, El Tri struggled to carve out clear chances until 16-year-old Gilberto Mora threaded a perfect pass to Raul Jiménez. The veteran striker rifled an unerring shot past Edrick Menjívar in the 50th minute to break the deadlock.
Mexico maintained control after the interval, with Mora delivering a teasing cross that Roberto Alvarado couldn’t convert, missing the chance to double the lead.
Three minutes later, Edson Álvarez appeared to double Mexico’s advantage with a close-range finish from a set piece, but a lengthy VAR review flagged him offside.
Now chasing a record-breaking 10th Gold Cup crown, Mexico will meet the United States - who edged Guatemala 2–1 earlier in the day.
"It’s a 'Clasico,' CONCACAF's ultimate rivalry," said Mexico goalkeeper Luis Malagón. "We must win this 'Clasico' - I learned that from America - it will be a war."
