New York Jets running back Braelon Allen exited Monday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins after sustaining a knee injury on a kickoff return. The incident occurred in the second quarter when a Jets defender collided with the side of Allen’s left knee, causing it to bend awkwardly. Allen remained on the ground for several moments before heading to the sideline medical tent.

Soon, he walked to the locker room. The Jets quickly ruled him out for the remainder of the game with a knee injury, though the severity was not immediately disclosed.

Allen, now in his second season, has been part of a backfield alongside starter Breece Hall. His offensive role has been relatively limited through New York’s first three games, recording 14 carries for 50 yards and two receptions for 17 yards. Against Miami, he had contributed four carries for 26 yards but also lost a fumble at the goal line before the injury.

In addition to his backfield work, Allen has been utilised as a part-time kick returner. Entering Monday’s contest, he had returned three kickoffs for 76 yards, sharing responsibilities with fellow running back Isaiah Davis and wide receiver Xavier Gipson.
