Jets land defensive tackle Harrison Phillips in reported trade with Vikings

As part of the trade, the Jets will send Minnesota sixth-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027. In return, the Vikings will send Phillips and a 2027 seventh-round pick to New York.
The move is pending a physical for Phillips, who turns 30 next January. The agreement was first reported by ESPN and NFL Network and comes just hours after the Jets added another piece to their defensive front.
According to ESPN, the Vikings also agreed to pay $3.7 million of Phillips' $7.4 million salary for 2025.
Earlier Wednesday, New York traded a sixth-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for defensive tackle Jowon Briggs and a seventh-rounder in 2026, signaling a clear emphasis on reinforcing depth along the line.
Known for his strength against the run, Phillips has recorded eight career sacks and five fumble recoveries across seven NFL seasons.
With the pair of trades, the Jets aim to solidify their defensive interior ahead of the 2025 season, addressing a key need as they continue reshaping their roster.
