Jermaine Jenas admits acting ‘inappropriately’ during his time at BBC ahead of commentary comeback

Jermaine Jenas is set to return to broadcasting this weekend after being dismissed by the BBC over allegations of inappropriate messages. Acknowledging his past mistakes, he has pledged to grow from the experience and return as a better person.

Former footballer Jermaine Jenas, who was dismissed from the BBC following allegations of inappropriate workplace behaviour, has admitted that he acted “inappropriately” and "made a mistake." He is set to return to broadcasting on talkSport this weekend.

Jenas is currently working for talkSport and will be providing commentary on the FA Cup fourth-round match between Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur on February 9. His return has reportedly raised concerns among staff.

Jenas breaks silence on the matter

Before returning to commentary, Jenas spoke to the radio station and acknowledged that his actions at the BBC were inappropriate. He took full responsibility, admitting it was a mistake.

He explained that the situation had been challenging for his wife and family, adding that he now fully understands how a career can be taken away in an instant.

Jenas reflected on the support he received, stating that when things go wrong, it is family and close friends who stand by you. He credited them as his biggest source of strength during this time. He also spoke about having honest conversations with his wife and family, emphasising that his focus is now on supporting them and working on self-improvement.

When asked about the impact on his relationship, Jenas admitted he had put his family in a position they never asked for, with the press following them around. He expressed regret, acknowledging that they did not deserve to be in that situation.

What had happened?

This comes six months after the 41-year-old was removed from the presenting teams of Match of the Day and The One Show following allegations of inappropriate workplace behaviour and complaints about "unsolicited messages," for which he later apologised.
