Jennifer Lawrence cautions fans with a dry threat after making her Instagram debut: ‘If anyone says anything negative, I will quit’
Jennifer Lawrence has finally made her entrance onto Instagram, playfully cautioning new followers to be kind or face her speedy departure. She humorously described herself as the 'baby' who requires shielding from unkind remarks. Despite being la...

“So, yeah, I’m giving it a shot,” Lawrence said in the video. “And if anyone says anything negative, I will quit. Immediately. No questions asked.”
Lawrence, 36, took the warning a step further, joking that even thoughts her followers never express could be enough to send her packing.
“If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know,” she joked. “I’ll know. And I’ll quit.” The “X-Men” star continued the joke in her first Instagram Story, asking her new followers to protect her emotional well-being before leaving comments.
“Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby,” the message read. Lawrence then revealed who the supposedly gullible “baby” was: “It’s me. I’m the baby.”
The actress’s warning comes as she makes an unexpectedly late entrance to Instagram. Lawrence, who is married to art gallery director Cooke Maroney, joined the platform under the verified username @jlaw, explaining the choice in her bio with the simple line: “jenniferlawrence was taken.”
Her profile picture also appeared to lean into the playful tone of her debut, showing Lawrence seated with foils in her hair, holding a drink and looking suspiciously toward the camera.
The account had already attracted more than 2.6 million followers since going live on Wednesday.
Lawrence is following 46 accounts, including Miss Piggy, her “Hunger Games” co-star Josh Hutcherson, all the Kardashian-Jenners except Rob Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese.
Her arrival on Instagram is notable given her previous reluctance to join social media. In a 2014 interview with BBC Radio 1, Lawrence said she would never join Twitter (X) and cautioned fans that accounts bearing her name were not actually operated by her.
Now that she has finally joined Instagram, however, Lawrence appears to have one very clear condition for staying: Don’t be mean.
