Jenna Ortega reportedly refused to say lines that conflicted with 'Wednesday' character vision
Jenna Ortega has expressed how protective she is about the character of 'Wednesday'. Apparently, she refused to say lines that conflicted with her vision of the character.

In that episode, Ortega playing the character of Wednesday spotted a black dress in a shop window and loved it. At that moment, she was supposed to say,"Oh my God I’m freaking out over a dress, I literally hate myself."
Ortega omitted that dialogue because she felt doing that would make her sound inhuman. She added that they were able to avoid a lot of similar dialogues that made her sound too inhuman.
Ortega has previously spoken up about disliking the love triangle subplot of the story. She felt that Wednesday’s character was such that she could never be in a love triangle. However, she is on the same page with the show's fans about shipping Wednesday and Enid, her best friend in the show. The actress feels that the pairing could be a thing, in a perfect world. When asked about that particular angle, Al Gough and Miles Millar, the show’s creators, have said that while they are open to everything, they do not want to get misdirected by fan theories.
Wednesday premiered on Netflix on November 23, 2022. The show became an instant hit with great ratings on various platforms. Thereafter, the "Wednesday dance" from episode 4 became viral on Tik Tok. Several celebrities have recreated the dance their own way, making it a trend.
