During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jenna Ortega, the actor who plays the iconic character Wednesday in the successful Addams Family spin-off on Netflix, shared her vision for the upcoming season. Ortega expressed her desire for the show to focus more on its horror premise and move away from any romantic subplots involving the protagonist.
The series became a surprise hit for Netflix, breaking viewership records since its release in November last year. Ortega stated that the writers' room has just started, and her personal preference for the next season would be to see Wednesday become more independent and fight her own battles.
Furthermore, Jenna Ortega recently found herself in the midst of a controversy related to the series when she revealed that she changed some of her character's dialogue without informing the writers. The actor expressed discomfort with some of the lines that had been written for Wednesday, including her involvement in a love triangle and her praise of a prom dress.
As a result, she took it upon herself to modify the lines to better align with the true nature of the Addams character. Ortega's changes have not gone unnoticed, as the show has gained immense popularity and continues to generate buzz even months after its initial release.
The second season of Wednesday is confirmed, however, there is no release date as of now.
