The US Justice Department hopes to release flight logs and several names associated with Jeffrey Epstein on Thursday, February 27.

The late financier had close ties with celebrities, businessmen and even royalty, before he was arrested for sex trafficking.

In an interview with Fox News, US Attorney General Pam Bondi said that her department would try to release a "lot of flight logs, a lot of names, a lot of information" on Epstein, Reuters reported.

After Donald Trump began his second term as the US President, he signed an executive order to declassify several files related to Jeffrey Epstein’s global sex trafficking network.

The order also directed agencies to declassify files related to the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and his brother Robert F. Kennedy.

What the Jeffrey Epstein files could contain

The details in the files could contain the names of several prominent people that Epstein was reportedly close to.

As per Newsweek, several details related to the financier’s activities have already been released in court documents. People with close ties to Epstein who were named in the documents include Britain’s Prince Andrew, former US President Bill Clinton and sitting US President Donald Trump. Al-Jazeera stated that many on the list, such as Trump, have not been accused of anything.

Others such as Prince Andrew have long denied accusations of any wrongdoing. The British royal was forced to step down from his duties after his links to Epstein emerged in 2019.

The documents that are to be released may pertain to Epstein’s global sex trafficking network. There is pressure on the US government to release the full flight logs from Epstein’s helicopter and private jet as well as a rumoured list of clients he had. This could implicate many people who had close ties to Epstein before his arrest.

Pam Bondi has said that the delay in the release of the documents was due to the Justice Department’s working to protect the personal data of over 250 victims connected to the network.

Epstein was accused of running a global sex trafficking network on the island he owned- Little St. James. Many of his victims were flown to the place and forced to engage in sexual acts. Epstein was arrested in 2019. He passed away in the same year in his jail cell, before he could stand trial on the charges. His death was ruled as a suicide.
