Jefferson Machado: What happened to the South American soap star who was reported missing in January 2023?

South American soap opera actor Jefferson Machado caused a stir across the globe after he was reported missing as nobody was known to have heard from him since January 27, 2023. However, in a grim development, on May 22, Brazilian authorities confirmed the discovery of Machado’s body stuffed in a trunk encased in cement.

Machado family’s lawyer, Jairo Magalhaes told New York Post that authorities found the soap opera actor with his arms tied behind his head and buried inside a trunk similar to the ones that are also found inside his house. As per reports, the trunk, with his body, was buried at least six feet in the ground in the backyard of his own house in the Campo Grande area.

The actor’s gruesome death was confirmed by his family lawyer on Facebook stating that, “This discovery confronts us with the cruelty present in our society, motivating us to seek truth and justice in the face of such impactful cases”. However, the statement did not reveal the cause of Machado’s death.


It is to mention that presently, his death is still under investigation. No suspects have been named but reportedly, the authorities are looking into Machado’s friend who had rented the house where the soap opera actor’s body was discovered nearly four months after he was reported missing.

As per reports, the 44-year-old’s disappearance was reported after his eight dogs were found alone.
