British musician Jeff Beck has died. One of the most prominent rock guitarists of all time was 78-year-old. The news of Beck's demise was confirmed on his official Twitter handle.

"On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing," a statement on Jeff Beck's twitter handle reads.

"After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss," the Twitter statement said.

Who Was Jeff Beck?

Jeff Beck rose to fame after joining Yardbirds. Subsequently, Beck formed Jeff Beck group with Rod Stewart.

With Jeff Beck Group, he released two albums 'Truth' (1968) and 'Beck-Ola' (1969). His other albums were "Blow By Blow", 'Wired', and "Jeff Beck With The Jan Hammer Group Live".

Beck released an album with actor Johnny Depp, titled as '18', in 2022.



Critics said that Beck redefined guitar music in 1960s. He was also influential in jazz-rock and heavy metal.

In 2009, Beck was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time.
