Is Elon Musk really leaving DOGE? JD Vance responds
During an interview on Fox News, JD Vance dismissed claims that President Donald Trump was dissatisfied with Musk’s work and planning for his exit.“First of all, that report I saw was total fake news,” Vance said, referring to a Politico article that alleged Trump was privately signaling Musk’s departure.
According to Vance, Musk was brought in as a special advisor on a six-month mission to streamline government operations and eliminate bureaucracy. This advisory role carries a strict 130-day limit, which will conclude by late May or early June. However, that doesn’t mean Musk is leaving the administration entirely.
What happens after Musk’s advisory role ends?
Despite the time limit on his official position, Musk will continue offering guidance to the administration.“We said that’s going to take about six months, and that’s what Elon signed up for,” Vance explained. “But of course, he’s going to continue to be an advisor.”
Musk’s involvement with DOGE—a key government efficiency initiative—will not end abruptly. Instead, the work will push forward with the momentum he helped create.
Will the DOGE initiative survive without Musk?
Vance was clear that DOGE’s mission will not stall even if Musk’s official role changes.“The work of DOGE is not even close to done, the work of Elon is not even close to done,” he said.
The vice president praised Musk’s efforts, crediting him with uncovering fraudulent grants and exposing wasteful spending within the federal system. According to Vance, Musk has played a crucial role in tackling fraud in Social Security and other government programs.
Why is the left targeting Musk?
Musk has become a central figure of controversy since joining the Trump administration. His aggressive cost-cutting measures, particularly those affecting Democratic-backed federal grants, have made him a target for progressive activists.Left-wing protests have erupted outside Tesla facilities, and Musk’s cars have reportedly been vandalized on the streets. The backlash has fueled speculation that Trump might distance himself from the billionaire, but insiders say that’s far from the truth.
Is there a rift between Trump and Musk?
Despite media claims of a growing divide, sources close to the administration insist that Trump and Musk remain aligned.“This ‘scoop’ is garbage,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X. “Elon Musk and President Trump have both publicly stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete.”
Musk himself shut down the rumors by retweeting Leavitt’s post and adding, “Yeah, fake news.”
With Musk continuing to advise the administration beyond his formal role, it’s clear he’s not disappearing from the political landscape anytime soon.
