Kevin Gausman delivered a strong outing and Bo Bichette sparked a key rally as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees 4-1 on Monday night, securing their franchise-best 11th straight home victory - surpassing the previous mark set in 1985.

Gausman (7-7) was dominant, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out eight. The only blemish came in the fourth, when Giancarlo Stanton led off with a solo homer on a hanging splitter, giving the Yankees a brief 1-0 lead.

Toronto responded emphatically in the bottom of the fifth, scoring all four of their runs in the frame. George Springer walked, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. followed with a single. Bichette then roped a two-run double into the left-field corner, giving the Jays the lead.

The Yankees’ defense crumbled after that - Myles Straw reached on a throwing error by third baseman Oswald Peraza, allowing Bichette to score, and Straw later crossed the plate after a second errant throw, this one by shortstop Anthony Volpe on a Leo Jimenez grounder.

Carlos Rodon (10-7) lasted five innings for New York, giving up four runs - only two earned - on six hits and five walks while fanning four.

Despite loading the bases in both the second and fourth innings, Toronto couldn’t capitalize further, but the damage in the fifth was enough.

Jeff Hoffman struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 24th save, preserving the win and extending Toronto’s AL East lead to four games over the Yankees.
